Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born 16 May 1977, is a New Zealand actress. She is known for her quirky, soft-spoken, but strong characters. She is primarily in independent films. Her awards include the New Zealand Film Award, and a Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, as well as Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award Critics' Choice Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey made her film debut , playing an aspiring teenage murderess on Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After moving to the United States in 1994, Lynskey forged a career performing supporting roles in a number of big-budget and smaller-scale films, including Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a Cherleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama (1902), Shattered Glass (2003) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey was nominated for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and was praised by critics for her role as an unhappy divorcee in Hello I Must be Going (2012). It was a turning point in her career. She is a prominent actor in the American independent film industry due to her subsequent performances in Happy Christmas. We'll Never Have Paris. Goodbye To All That (all 2014), The Intervention. Rainbow Time. Little Boxes. I'm not at home in This World. And Then I Go. Lady of the Manor. (2021). Lynskey is also known for her role as Rose on Two and a Half Men (2003-2015).
