Dormer, born 11 February 1982, is an English actress. Her awards include an
Empire Award, and receiving nominations for the Critics' Choice Award along
with two Gemini Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Dormer was born in
Reading, Berkshire. She made her name as Anne Boleyn, a part she played in the
Showtime series The Tudors (2008), that earned her acclaim. She made her stage
debut in the show Sweet Nothings (2010). She also appeared in the Sweet
Nothings (2010) and she played the Duchess York in Madonna's film W.E. (2011),
and Private Lorraine in Captain America the First Avenger (2011). The
performance she gave in After Miss Julie (2012) at the Young Vic was praised.
Dormer was a target of international attention and recognition for her
portrayal of Margaery Tyrell in the HBO series Game of Thrones (2012-2016) and
Cressida in the final two segments of The Hunger Games franchise (2014-2015)
These are her top-grossing movies. She was also a part of Irene Adler/Moriarty
on the CBS series Elementary (2013-15), Sara Price Jess Price (2016, 2017) and
Onica in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019). Her role as Penny
Dreadful: City of Angels, a miniseries about Penny Dreadful, was highly
appreciated. Dormer was born on the 11th of February 1982 in Reading, Berkshire
(England), as the daughter of Gary Dormer & Claire Richards. She is
also the sibling of Samantha Dormer and Mark Dormer.
